Why am I getting an authentication error when I try to log into Tunnelblick?

“When I try to log into Tunnelblick on my MAC, instead of asking for a password, it exits with an authentication failed error. What’s going on?”

This usually happens because you have saved either an old password or an incorrect password (perhaps a mispelling) using MAC OS X Keychain facility. Just follow these steps to correct the problem:

Step 1: Quit the Tunnelblick application if any part of it is still running.

Step 2: Open Applications in Finder. Click on Utilities and then open Keychain Access.

Step 3: Choose Edit and select Keychain List from the drop down menu. Then select the keychain called “Tunnelblick” or “Tunnelblick.app”.

Step 4: Click the minus sign () at the bottom of the window to delete this keychain.

Step 5: You may now close Keychain Access and run Tunnelblick using your correct password.

  1. Stop Tunnelblick applicaton.
  2. Open Keychain Access, located in /Applications/Utilities.
  3. Choose Edit > Keychain List, then select the keychain called “Tunnelblick” .
  4. Click Delete (-).
  5. Start Tunnelblick
