SETUP: Using PSCalendar with iCal (Mac OSX Lion)

Publishing Your Calendar

(NOTE: If you are using the latest Mac with its “Calendar” app, these instructions are NOT for you. Click here for calendar setup with newer Macs.)

Step 1: Open iCal and select the calendar you want to publish from the left hand column. Click Calendar at the top of the screen. In the dropdown menu, click Publish.

Step 2: Name your calendar (ex. “My Shared”) and in the Publish on dropdown menu choose a Private Server. Then, as your Base URL, type in https://mirror.psmail.net/calendar/username%40psmail.net/ if your primary email address is username@psmail.net, and set your username and password (use your PSMail username and password). You may select or deselect the other options as you see fit.

Step 3: Click Publish. Once your calendar has successfully published, the screen will display your personal URL for the calendar. You can immediately mail this URL to other PSMail users by clicking on Send Mail (this will enable them to subscribe to your calendar) or simply click OK.

Step 4: To send your calendar to friends or associates at a later date, right click the calendar you wish to share in the left hand column and click Send Publish Email.

Viewing Another PSMail User’s Calendar

Step 1: Open iCal and click Calendar at the top of the screen. In the dropdown menu, click Subscribe.

Step 2: In Calendar URL type the calendar’s URL that your friend or associate has sent you (http://calendar.psmail.net/atlanta@psmail.net/iMac.ics has been used here as an example). Then click Subscribe.

Step 3: You will be prompted for a username and password; use your PSMail email address and password.

Step 4: When the account opens, assign it an appropriate title and set the various options as you see fit. (NOTE: the URL will begin with http:// becuase iCal can accept only http and https URLs; you need do nothing to change it).

Step 5: The shared calendar will now appear underneath “Subscriptions” in the left hand column. When you check the box, all the events for that calendar will appear.

If at any point you decide that you no longer want to subscribe to this calendar, simply right click on the calendar and select delete.
