SETUP: IMAP for Outlook 2003

Note: All IMAP usage from October 2022 will require Device Password.

Step 1: Open Outlook 2003, click the Tools menu, and select E-mail Accounts….

Step 2: Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.

Step 3: Choose IMAP as your server type by clicking the radio button, and then click Next.

Step 4: Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:

  • User Information: Your name (enter your name as you would like it to appear in outgoing email; ex. “John Doe”) and email address (enter your full email address; ex. username@psmail.net).
  • Server Information: For Incoming mail server (IMAP), enter “mail.psmail.net,” and for Outgoing mail server (SMTP), enter “mail.psmail.net.”
  • Login Information: For User Name, enter your primary PSMail address (ex. username@psmail.net), and for Password, enter your PSMailbox password.

Step 5: Click More Settings…, and then click the Outgoing Server tab.

Step 6: Check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server. NOTE: DO NOT enable the Secure Password Authentication or SPA

Step 7: Click the Advanced tab, and check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Incoming Server (IMAP).

Step 8: Check the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under Outgoing Server (SMTP), and enter “465” in the Outgoing server (SMTP) box.

Step 9: Click OK, then click Next, and then click Finish. You’re done!
