Email Privacy

PSMail Quick Tip: Did you know that the header of an email message you compose can contain private information such as your computer’s location, name, operating system, and even the current patch level?

Here is an example of a Message-ID header:

MessageID:

Received: from JanetsPC (score.mafa.id[162.1.48.170]) by …..

X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook 12.0 (xpsp.0809413-2105)

This header reveals that the sender is in Indonesia. The Message-ID also shows that she works for “Indo Finance” and uses Microsoft Outlook version 12 with the indicated patch level.  At PSMail, protecting your identity is a priority. We scrub and remove any such information that may be used to identify your personal settings and your personal computer
