PSLists: Overview Print E-mail
What is PSLists?
PSLists is a secure email lists that is provided as part of PSMailbox service

What are the different type of lists in PSMail system?
  •     Broadcast for sending newsletter - Not threaded meant for one way communication.  Only the list owner or list administrator can send to this list
  •     Threaded discussion for group discussions - threaded and a copy of the threads maintained onlne for all subscribers. All subscribers can post and keep a discussion alive or start a new discussion.  Whatever you send (reply or new topic) goes to the whole group.  An archived copy is available online in a threaded discussion for every subscriber through a list password.  Non PSMail subscribers can also access this online setup.
  •     Ad-hoc discussions. Similar to group discussions, whatever is sent to the list is broadcasted to all subscribers, but replies are sent to the original initiator of the topic.  When you hit reply you are writing only to the sender and not the whole group.
  •     Anonymous : In this group there is a set of approved senders and subscribers.  Approved senders can send email to this list; the email is then forwarded to subscribers.  Ideal for office group.  The reply or response is not expected in these groups.

How secure is PSLists?
It uses encrypted communications for authorized users and internal PSMail users even in different domains.  Non PSMaill subscribers who are part of the group may not get fully encrypted communication, we use opportunistic encryption when reaching non PSMail   users

How many groups can I have?

10 lists are allowed for each user and each list can have only 300 subscribers
- I sent email to three groups that I manage only one group got the message, why?
You can send a email to one group only at a time.  Multiple lists cannot be sent the same message with multiple To:  fields.

I sent an email to a PSLists list and it bounced back?
Note that only subscribers can post to lists.  Only the owner or the list administrator can send emails to a Broadcast.  If you have followed the instructions, but cannot understand an error message, please forward the bounce error message with error code number to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it

Can I send the email group as a BCC recipient?
You should use the To: field in sending the email to lists.  There is no need to use Bcc: field when sending to a list email address.   It is required that you send to only one lists at a time and do not copy yourself or other people the same email.  The recipients of the email cannot see or find the email address of the other subscribers, they can only see the email address of the sender and the list email address.

Is there a size and recipient limit for PSLists, can I increase it?
PSLists are allowed a maximum number of 300 recipients.  The maximum message size for lists is 1 MBytes.  Messages that are larger than this limit, up to 10 MBytes will be stored on the server.  Users can collect these messages through a unique URL that will be emailed to them.  This is designed to avoid routing very large messages to many recipients that can clog their mailbox. Note, that you can set the limit on the list to be smaller than 1 MBytes to ensure the lists is useful for users with slow network access.

Can I use "Send Large Files" to send messages of 500 Mbytes to PSLists ?
This is NOT recommended or supported by our system. "Send Large Files" is File share utility that is for sending movies, documents securely to other people and is best designed for sharing large documents. PSLists is not designed to work with File share.
