What is PSVPN, do I need it? PSVPN is a type of a VPN (Virtual Private Network) system service provided by PSMail.
It is included in the PSMailbox service. VPN a private network system that uses public internet to tunnel traffic from your PC to our computer network. This allows you to securely access your PSMailbox and other network services from limited network connection - such as public wireless or internet cafe.
How does it work? When you connect to PSVPN using a VPN software client or natively supported Windows VPN dial-in, your computer will terminate all its communications to our central server that is located in US (or UK). Once VPN network is setup, the computer will tunnel all traffic at network level to our central VPN server(s). your local wireless network or internet cafe network will not be able to interpret or analyze your network traffic. It is ideal to access our PSMailbox or other services through this service. What type of VPN is this? We support both PPTP and SSLVPN protocols for VPN usage. PPTP is Point To Point Tunneling Protocol supported by most Microsoft systems. It requires simple configuration in Windows and MAC OS X systems. However most network providers do not support this type of tunneling. SSLVPN is less network intrusive and has better reliability over multiple open network providers. However SSLVPN requires a client installed on Windows or MAC systems. These clients are available from our website, login at https://mail.psmail.net/ and then go to "PSVPN" link on the left side menu. What type of VPN am I using and what do you recommend? SSLVPN requires a client program distributed by PSMail. If you followed instructions at our website https://mail.psmail.net/ then you are using the SSL VPN client called PSVPN.
PPTP VPN does not requires any client software for Windows or for MAC OS X. You can configure your PC to use PPTP VPN. PPTP VPN uses a specific protocol which is at times blocked by firewalls or by ISP's or by the local network providers. SSLVPN is ideal if you want to VPN access remotely from restrictive networks such as open wireless or internet cafe.
I am unable to connect to SSLVPN or I connect to SSLVPN then I cannot access any websites, what should I do?
In our experience, most of the time connectivity issues after you have successfully connected to SSLVPN are due to firewall settings on your PC. If you are not able to install the client, please make sure your system is up to date and your have followed our instructions at our secure website called PSVPN - SSLVPN, you need to be logged in to see this menu. If you are able to connect using SSLVPN but cannot browse any website , please submit a service desk ticket along with the log files to

To collect log files , you should right click on SSLVPN icon on status bar and click on "View Log" or "Show Status" - once you are connected. If you cannot see "View Log" option, choose the submenu under "sslvpn" when you right click on SSLVPN icon.
How much do I pay for VPN and how do I activate my account for VPN access?
VPN service is included in the PSMailbox service. It does not require any additional fee or activation from our service center. What operating systems are supported? We support Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux (Generic) with our VPN client. Other systems such as iPhone and other Phone software for VPN access is partially supported. What about "man-in-the middle" attacks against SSL VPN's, is IPSEC more secure? Our SSLVPN systems uses custom certificates with unique "Certificate Authority", our VPN clients validate this on accessing the VPN. This setupis not susceptible to "Man in the Middle" attacks like most populate SSLVPN that use browser to access remote networks. IPSEC, if used over UDP, provides an equivalent ease of use and network security as provided by our SSLVPN. We do not support IPSEC protocol through our VPN system.
