PSMail Quick Tip: Before opening any email attachments, be sure you know the source of the attachment - even if you do, make sure you run your own virus scan on all attachments. It is not enough that the mail originated from an address you recognize, as the from address can be spoofed (faked!) At PSMail we go out of our way to protect your PSMailbox. Read all about it here. |

PSMail Quick Tip: There's nothing more frustrating than losing documents because of software problems or because a computer crashes. Keep a copy of important files on removable media such as ZIP disks or recordable CD/DVDs. Use software backup tools when available, and store the backup disks somewhere away from the computer.
How often should you backup? That depends. For home users, we recommend keeping all of your work in one folder (directory and sub-directories.) The Windows "My Documents" is an example. If you work from home or update your documents daily, we recommend backing up your folders once a week.
If you are in an office environment on a shared server, contact your administrator to find out how often systems are backed up. Then, ask for the company policy on what your responsiblities are for backing up data on your desktop or laptop.
